Building PatrickPuma.com: A Journey in Web Development

PatrickPuma.com represents my evolution as a web developer, combining decades of experience with modern web technologies. Built with React, CSS, JavaScript, and SQLite, this site serves as a hub for my blog and portfolio, hosted on a Linode VPS and configured with Nginx.

A Blend of Modern Tools and Decades of Experience

I’ve been developing websites since the late 1990s, starting with basic HTML code and evolving into creating full-fledged web applications. PatrickPuma.com is a reflection of this journey, built using React , CSS , and JavaScript , with SQLite as the database powering my blog and portfolio entries.

This project involved configuring a virtual private server (VPS) at Linode, purchasing a domain at Hostinger, and connecting it to my VPS through DNS. Using Nginx , I set up efficient routing to serve my website. To streamline updates, I integrated an admin backdoor, enabling me to make changes directly through the site.

While the current focus is on showcasing my portfolio and blog, I envision future expansions, such as a Stripe integration for a shopping cart to sell products, services, or subscriptions. This site represents not just my technical skills, but my commitment to continual growth as a developer.
